NONINGTON PARISH COUNCIL

Report of a meeting held on Wednesday 5th July 2006

Wicksteed Leisure have agreed to deduct £135 from their invoice for digging up and taking away slide. They have further stated that they will donate a bench as a goodwill gesture. It was decided to wait until the Playground Inspector has given his report this month to make sure that the slide has passed a safety inspection before paying.

Ash Footpath EE314. This footpath needed to be upgraded at a cost of £4,490. Grants were received from the Local Board of £750, £1,250 from the Bruderhof and £2,490 from Dover District Council. The work will commence at the start of the summer holidays and take about 2 weeks. Thanks were given to all donors who have made this possible.

Village Day 9th September 2006. The proposal for this event was made at a previous meeting and was discussed by representatives and interested parishioners on 28th June. Those present at this meeting were willing to support, promote and co-ordinate the events if the P.C. provided the finance and support required. A summary of the proposal as follows:

The events will be held on 9th September and the venue is the cricket ground, it will commence at 6 p.m.

The P.C. will be completely responsible for running a fireworks display and a grand draw, they will also organise a BBQ.

There will be many stalls which will be entirely the responsibility of the group or persons who run them.

The Cricket Club will run a bar with facilities.

The entrance ticket will cost £2 per adult, children will be free and the fireworks will commence at approximately 8 p.m.

The village marquee will be available with tables and chairs.

The art exhibition run by the FONC and the round Kent Bike ride run by the Church during the day, will be advertised jointly with the evening events.

Meetings Attended: Snowdown Regeneration - exhibition. Planning permission will be submitted and the end of July or beginning of August, Snowdown Forum will comment on that before it goes to D.D.C. Nonington residents submitted by far the greatest number of comment sheets. The main concern was traffic. Anyone is able to appear at the Planning meeting at D.D.C.

D.D.C. Payment for delivery of exhibition leaflets. D.D.C. has now sent £100 and it was proposed to donate this money to the Chairperson of the Colts to help with the travelling expenses of the village girls who play for Kent. This was carried unanimously and the Clerk will raise a cheque accordingly.

It was stated that the village will be having a bus service linking Canterbury and Dover from 16th July with buses running every hour. The bus stops will be at the Royal Oak and the Village Hall, the bus will come past Snowdown Station through the village and up Mill Lane to Elvington and on towards Whitfield and Dover, with obviously the reverse from Dover to Canterbury. The route number is 89 and the telephone number for any queries is 08702 433 711.
