NONINGTON PARISH COUNCIL May 3rd 2006 Matters Arising Rural Housing Trust Affordable Housing. The Government has, under pressure, agreed not to continue with its plan of allowing the buyer to purchase 100% of the property because this would put the house on the open market and defeat the object of the trust. The maximum will continue to be up to 80% shared ownership. D.D.C. have objections to the site proposed in the village for affordable housing i.e. the field opposite Prima Systems. Prima Windows. The Parish Council together with Prima have asked D.D.C. planning department for permission to have a temporary car park at the back of this property but so far no word has been received. Green Day. This was held on 25th March for the fifth year, again it was a successful event with 34 volunteers appearing. Again there was a tremendous amount of rubbish collected including white goods as well as general litter. D.D.C.supplied litter pickers, bags, and high visibility vests. As the litter pickers are always in short supply it was proposed by Cllr Craggy that we should look into buying some for the village for future use. Nonington Website shows the amount of rubbish that has been collected over the last 3 years. A vote of thanks from the Parish Council was given to Cllr Craggy for arranging this annual event. Yours Magazine. It was decided, in consultation with the recipients of this magazine, that the number purchased each month could be reduced from 10 to 8, thus offsetting the increased cost of the publication. Village Day. Cllr Tee was unfortunately unable to attend this meeting to give an up date on this proposed event. It is understood that a village day is proposed before the summer holidays and that another event will take place after the summer holidays in conjunction with the cricket club. Several organisations have expressed an interest. Footpath EE314 (Ash Path) This footpath now needs to be upgraded and a quotation from Ringway was obtained by Melvyn Twycross of the Footpaths Division of K.C.C. this was just over £4,000, of which the footpaths division of K.C.C. would pay all but £2000 the Parish Council could not afford this amount. However funding has now been obtained from Beech Grove (£1250.00) and a community grant (£750) via our County Councillor, Mrs E Rowbothom, enabling the work to proceed. Election of Officers/Committee membership and representatives. Election of Chairman. Councillor Barnett stood down as Chairman. The Clerk asked for nominations for the post of Chairman. Cllr Rye proposed Cllr Barnett to continue as Chairman this was seconded by Cllr Craggy and carried unanimously. Election of Vice-Chairman. Councillor Holt agreed to continue until he moves away. Election of other officers.

The planning stage of the development is hopefully nearing completion and an invitation to a public exhibition will be delivered to all houses in the village inviting them to attend. This will be held from 8th May to 15th May (apart from Sunday 14th) at Aylesham Community Project. Parishioners are urged to attend as their comments are needed to ensure we will obtain the optimum result for the parish. Someone will be available at all times to answer questions. The village can achieve many benefits from this project over and above the removal of old unsafe buildings, with possibly a regular bus service and a new footpath from the station down through the village.
