NONINGTON PARISH COUNCIL Report of a meeting held on Wednesday 6th September 06 Ash Footpath EE314 this was completed by Ringway in the first two weeks of August but it was stated that thistles were growing through the tarmac covering, this will be looked into. Rural Housing Trust A meeting has been arranged with a member of the RHT on Monday 11th September to discuss this ongoing matter. Venue for PC meetings it was decided that winter meetings would be held in the Dolphins Hall and summer meetings held in the Village Hall. Bus Service A request stop has been promised for outside the old Telephone Exchange in Holt Street with a corresponding spot opposite. All drivers have been asked to stop if hailed in the village if they feel it is safe to do so. Stagecoach is sending someone to look into the feasibility of a bus travelling to the top of Vicarage Lane and picking up at St Marys Close they will also look into the bus coming from Elvington via Tye Wood and exiting at the top of Butchers Lane rather than coming past Kittenden Cottages. The Snowdown Regeneration forum meetings are winding down now. All our comments have been taken into account and a planning application is expected to be sent to D.D.C. by the end of September 06. All parties concerned with the roads attended a meeting last Thursday, this was not very satisfactory as none of the proposals from the Forum were accepted. Mr John Plumptre has given consent for land to be used for a path from the station to Butter Street (bath site side) now this has finally been seen the project leader stated that this would be a very expensive exercise. So much so that if all the money was spent on that then there may be none left for traffic calming. A cost assessment is being carried out however the Nonington representatives on the Snowdown Forum have always been assured that the money for these works was a certainty. It is expected that we as a village will have to be very active to achieve the best compromise. The Snowdown Forum is waiting to hear further regarding this matter. It was stated that the traffic flow through the village would probably double in 10 years and that TIR lorries should not be allowed through the village. Aylesham workshop 20th September re Expansion of Aylesham and Redevelopment of Snowdown Colliery. An exhibition is to be held at the Aylesham Workshops from 3 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday 20th September. This will take the form of displayed plans, sketches and designs with the developers and their consultants on hand to answer questions. At 6 pm it is proposed to give a formal presentation of the proposals together with a detailed first phase of development. Proposals will also be displayed regarding the redevelopment of the former Snowdown Colliery, for information. The new bus service is having difficulty with parked cars near Betts Garage. If parishioners in this vicinity could park on one side of the road it would be effective in dismissing this problem. If not then Highways will have to be contacted with a possibility of yellow lines being used. The question was raised asking why they must use double decker buses when a smaller bus would be quite sufficient. Next Parish Council Meeting Wednesday 1st November 2006 www.nonington.com
