NONINGTON PARISH COUNCIL

Report of a meeting held on Wednesday 3rd January 2007

Meetings Attended:- Dover North Neighbourhood Forum. A 12 month programme has been agreed which will connect KCC, DDC with Town and Parish Council. All 3 tiers of local government will work together and give local people greater power to influence their services through inputs to local groups of elected councillors in Neighbourhood Forums. The pilot should allow each council to make progress within a neighbourhood structure. It will be inclusive and take responsibility for passing local needs and priorities to service providers and decision-makers in each council. The hope is for local residents to become better informed and in a position to influence all tiers of local government.

Village Hall Meeting. There are now only 2 trustees and only one of these is active which is a problem for the Village Hall Committee. The Village Hall needs to be updated which includes the toilets. The possibility of a grant to help with this is being looked into. £100 cheque returned from Cricket Club. This money was given to the Councillors who leafleted the whole village with regard to the Snowdown Development exhibition held at Aylesham Centre. The Councillors asked the cricket club to donate the money towards travelling for the Colts. Unfortunately bequests cannot be specified so the money has been returned. Ron Player had requested that his share of the money go to Nonington Dolphins to help with their finances, all Councillors agreed to donate their share to the same organisation. A cheque for £100 to be sent to Nonington Dolphins as soon as possible.

A request had been made by a Parishioner that the gate be re-instated at the Holt Street end of the Ash Path for safety purposes. A meeting is being arranged with Denise Roffey from the Footpath Section of KCC to see what can be done. The slope from the exit of the Ash Path down to Holt Street is very steep and some thought is being given to how this can be resolved. In the meantime a temporary gate may be put in place.

Pauline Catterall thanked the Parish Councillors for the £100 donated by them. She stated that the money was desperately needed at this time of the year as fund raising was difficult in the Winter. The money will be put towards utility bills.

Cllr Craggy stated that he is going to arrange another Green Day in March, this will be the sixth one and any volunteers will be warmly welcomed. The date will follow shortly.

Cllr Barnett raised the thought of having a twice yearly news sheet in the village, this will be looked into.

Mrs Catterall asked if a plaque to commemorate the deaths of four people from a bomb in the last war could be erected on the corner of Nightingale Lane.
