NONINGTON PARISH COUNCIL

Report of a meeting held in the Village Hall on Wednesday 2nd September 2009 at 19.30 hrs.

·        Affordable housing – it was explained that this is a long process and will involve going back to the start of the exercise, sending out questionnaires, holding village meeting(s) etc. It was agreed that the PC should continue with ERHA to investigate the option of affordable housing in the village.

·        Village design statement – latest proposal is looking towards developing a Parish Plan, as opposed to a full design statement. This will act as a mandate for the future activities of the PC. A decision on whether to go ahead with the design statement is yet to be agreed.

·        Roads improvements – a members highways fund proposal for road improvements (gates and coloured tarmac at the Butter Street and Sandwich roads entrances to the village) has been submitted.

·        Prima Glass parking. Meeting held and parking has significantly improved due to reorganisation of existing parking facilities. It was agreed that correctly marked out passing areas along the Sandwich Road would be discussed with Highways.

·        Snowdown Footpath – almost complete, railings for the entrance steps and finishing touches required and the path should be ready for use by the end of September.  Invoices for materials will be forwarded to the PC. It was agreed that getting the path installed after such a long wait was a fantastic achievement and the Parish Council would like to thank all of people involved for their hard work and enthusiasm. It was also agreed that the path should have a formal opening ceremony – details to follow.

·        Village Green Day. The provisional date of 26th September is no longer suitable – it will most likely be the following week, to be confirmed. More volunteers for the day are still required – please contact the PC Clerk or Andy Tee ( tel 842768 ) if you are available.

·        Village day – posters have now been put up advertising the event. More volunteers are still needed to help set up tents etc beforehand or to help run the various activities on the day. If you are interested or available please contact the PC Clerk with details of your availability.

·        Village playground and pond –formal maintenance has now been arranged for the playground to address various issues from the recent annual safety inspection.

Following recent vandalism to the pond a group of volunteers will be cleaning out the pond, refitting the liner and refilling it with water.

·        The Promis centre has been burnt down following the closure earlier this summer. The PC hopes that the perpetrators are caught and dealt with appropriately.

·        The forms to formally adopt the Frogham phone have now been received from BT. It was restated that the decision is to adopt the box, minus telephony equipment, for a one-off charge of £1.

·        Aylesham development plans have now been formally submitted, although due to the turmoil in the housing market many of the terms are being reviewed. Nonington PC will be kept appraised of any development which may adversely affect the village.
