NONINGTON PARISH COUNCIL Report of a meeting held in the Village Hall on Wednesday 7th July 2010 at 19.30 hrs. · PC grants Following some isolated comments made at the last meeting the PC Clerk read out the guidelines for applications for grants in the Dover area, with particular reference to the Member Community Grant obtained for the recently purchased speed camera. It was made clear that this application was made completely correctly and that there was absolutely nothing improper about how the funds were obtained. · Roads improvements. Still no progress awaiting the outcome of recent cabinet discussions. There has been yet another accident at the Sandwich Road end of the village all the more reason to get the improvements moving ahead as soon as possible. · Village Green Day the PC gave thanks to all who turned out to help for the Green Day, especially the Beechgrove Community who turned out in force and whose enthusiastic help was greatly appreciated. It was proposed that in future two clear-up days, one in March and another in October should result in keeping the village even cleaner. · Promis centre. It has been noticed that squatters have moved into the remains of the Promis Centre, which has now been put up for auction. All interested parties have been informed of the developments and the vendors are working with their solicitors to resolve matters. · Nonington Craft and Village Fayre the day went well and was generally well supported, despite the slightly disappointing weather. There were many varied and lively events on the day and the PC would like to thank everyone who took part and whose hard work made the event happen. Financially the event roughly broke even the main aim was to allow local stallholders to raise funds and to have a good time. · Village waste bins there was a discussion regarding whether the siting and number of bins around the village is sufficient. The existing locations and numbers of bins will be confirmed and potential sites for new ones will be proposed at the next meeting. · Replacement playground gate the existing gate is in a sorry state of repair and needs to be replaced. A quote for the work from Dales Fencing was seen as being very competitive and it was agreed that the work should go ahead straight away. · The former PC Chairman Tony Barnett was presented with a gift from the PC, an engraved gavel and block and was warmly thanked for his contributions to the PC over the years. Following his resignation the parish councillor vacancy has now been advertised on the village noticeboard. · The Aylesham footpath still needs finishing off before it can be officially opened. It is also starting to get a bit overgrown cutting back of the hedge and surrounding shrubbery will be arranged. · For continuity and to avoid further confusion over venue all future PC meetings will be held in the Village Hall. The next Parish Council Meeting will be held at the Village Hall on Wednesday 1st September 2010 at 7.30 p.m
